ARSA Project Update – November 2007 Dear Rio Americano High School Families: The American River Sports Association (ARSA) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit public benefit organization formed by parents, neighbors and community members for the purpose of designing, constructing and privately funding multi-phased upgrades to the existing outdoor athletic facilities at Rio Americano High School (RAHS). This effort was spurred by safety concerns, practical use issues and the overall aesthetic deterioration of the school’s football, track & field, soccer, rugby, softball, baseball & tennis facilities. A facilities use agreement between ARSA and the San Juan Unified School District (SJUSD) was approved by the SJUSD Board of Education in January 2006 and the go-ahead to begin the first phase of construction was approved by the SJUSD Board of Education in August 2006. Private financing was provided by individual and corporate donors for the construction of these initial upgrades, including a scoreboard, snack bar building with formal male/female restrooms, concrete walkways and a properly graded football field. Construction was completed for this part of phase one in less than two months, enabling the RAHS student body to host the school’s first on-site Homecoming football game on October 7th, 2006. Additionally, the stadium area of the RAHS field was updated last winter to include first-rate long jump, high jump, triple jump, discus, and shot-put track & field amenities and top quality football field goal posts were installed this fall. ARSA is currently soliciting private funds with the immediate goal of building permanent stadium bleachers and a press box. To make a donation, please mail in your pledge form and check payable to ARSA at 600 Larch Lane, Sacramento, CA 95864. (Click here to download a copy of the ARSA pledge form.) If you have any questions or comments about the project, please e-mail the ARSA administrator at info@arsa-sac.org. Let’s work together to put RIO’s athletic programs back on top! Thanks for your support! … GO RIO! |
